With online frauds and scams on the up and up, this move by the police to seek the assistance of experts to recover assets as a result of cyber crime seems a natural and logical move. The question is should there be more 'cyber police' to prevent the crimes in the first place?
British law firm Mishcon de Reya to tackle the growing problem of cybercrime, with a lead role on a new police initiative in London to recover assets stolen by online fraudsters. With the annual cost of fraud in the U.K. reportedly as high as £193 billion a year ($252 billion) a year, the two-year pilot scheme will see the City of London Police, the lead force on fraud in England and Wales, work with the firm to identify, seize and recover assets from criminals, with civil asset-recovery litigation running alongside parallel criminal investigations.
