A warning for Derbyshire County Council residents. These types of scams affect us all. Legitimate businesses are having their names used in such frauds to extract personal information and money from would be victims.
In my experience when a Liquidator has been appointed over a company fraudsters have been known to contact the creditors claiming to be from the Liquidator suggesting they can help reclaim their lost investment or sell their 'found' assets, such as wine or carbon credits for a release fee or tax (Known as recovery room fraud). Liquidators should make creditors aware of such scams as soon as possible to help prevent the creditor/victim suffering a further loss.
RESIDENTS are being warned about potential scammers claiming to be from Derbyshire County Council. Bosses from the authority have warned people after receiving reports of people receiving phone calls where the caller has claimed to be from the council. During the phone calls residents have been asked for personal information, which is something the council says it will never do.
