Americans are being warned of a potential new cold calling scam which is trolling to capture a recording of your voice. With voice biometric security technology being considered by banks so a customer's voice is their password is it too far a leap to think cold calling scams could take on a whole new dimension?
Whether this 'Can you hear me? scam' has come to fruition I will remain cautious when that unknown number appears!
uthorities in the US have warned the public to avoid answering if they receive a phone call from an unknown person asking: "Can you hear me?" It is feared that fraudsters are asking the question purely to make victims say "yes" - which they'll then record, and use to authorise fraudulent charges to that person's phone, utility or credit card bill.
